The summary results of the exclusive Motive Legal Consulting research into the partner lateral hire market in London have now been published. This is the second year of the research, encompassing a six year period from 2005-2011.
London remains the heart of the lateral partner market in the UK, accounting for well over half of all partner moves across the country, and law firms in London remain strongly drawn to lateral hire as the primary method of business growth, hiring 2,295 partners in the six year period, 12% of them as part of multi-partner teams.
However, lateral hiring remains a very uncertain business, with a high degree
of attrition.
