Recognize and Reward the Right Behaviours:

Confirm behaviours: you’ll get what you reward, so always recognize and reward those behaviours that you believe are important for your organisation such as teamwork, being innovative. Make sure this is open, clear and public whenever you can but also that it is delivered in a style that suits each individual, e.g.:
  • Don’t interfere
  • Do support
  • “We discussed some broad ideas and she came back with a very detailed list having just been on holiday – what dedication!” Partner, Team Leader (law firm)
  • “A Group Leader got the whole of his Group together for a 2 hour session off site with drinks (4pm onwards) to ‘check everybody was happy with the Awayday and to agree broadly KPIs and plans for the future.” Partner
  • Encourage business champions.
